Data and information on nature diversity was collected by many institution such as Centre for Scientific Documentation and Information of Indonesian Institute of Sciences (PDII-LIPI), National Centre for Information on Nature Conservation - Ministry of Forestry (PIKA - DepHut), and some other instutions and universities

There are some germplasm collection which maintain by the government institution in Indoensia especially the the research institute belong to Agriculture Departement. Food Crop germplasm is mainly manage by Indonesian Centre for Food Crops Research and Development such as rice, cereals and tubers crop. Horticulture crops manage by Indonesian Centre for Horticulture Research and Dvelopment such as vegetables, fruits and ornamental plants. Industrial crops includes medicinal plant, aromatics, tobaco, fibers crops, coconut and palm tress species manage by Center Research and Development for Plantation. Animal husbandary germaplasm such as chicken, dugs, sheep and goat, cow and bufalow was manage by Research and Development Centre for Animal Sciences and Husbandaries. Other germplasm such as microorganism, cultures of indigenous plants species and commercial plant/animal also maintain by research institutes belong to Indonesian Institute of Sciences, government/private Universities and private research institutes.

The oldest garden is Bogor Garden located in Bogor, West Java (May, 18 1817) coverage 82 ha, and then Cibodas garden located in Gede and Pangrango mountain (April, 11 1852) as satellite garden in the mountains area at elevation above 1200 m asl for 129 ha. After that other satellites garden was also built such as Purwodadi Garden that developed at elevation about 300 m asl. for about 100 ha, located in Purwodadi Pasuruan East Java (January 30, 1941) and Eka Karya Garden, Bali was developed at elevation above 1200 m asl. coverage about 120 ha., on July, 15 1959, located in Bedugul, Tabanan, Bali. There are new Botanic Garden was developed in some province in Indonesia now. The garden named Wamena Biological Garden located in Wamena, Papua (12 Juni 1995) with about 150 local species collected as living collection in the more than 200 ha land coverage area. Baturaden Botanic Garden was developed for 142,2 ha, on December 29, 2004 located in Baturaden, Central Java. About 107 species maintain as living collection. Bukit Sari Botanic Garden was develop since 2003 located in Jambi, coverage area about 300 ha and manage collection more than 400 species. The new garden was prepared for developing in the next future year.
